Taxes. The tax system of the Czech Republic is similar in its main features to the systems of other European countries. The Czech tax system consists of direct and indirect taxes. Direct taxes include income tax (both corporate and personal), real estate taxes and road tax. Indirect taxes include value added tax (VAT), excise taxes and ecotaxes.

The flat tax ( paušální daň) was introduced by the Czech govt. in 2021. Taxpayers who apply for a flat tax only must pay the tax office a total monthly amount of about CZK 65,000 per year in total. This amount will change slightly each year. In 2021 it is CZK 5,469 per month.
